As Saudi Arabia continues its push to integrate women across sectors and in all levels of positions, the results of its efforts are increasingly being felt and definitely visible. As parts of this drive, women have been joining the teams working in some of the Kingdom’s most holy sites, and today there are 600 women working for the Saudi General Presidency for the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. This milestone was announced this week in various news reports, and is seen as a key achievement for female empowerment across Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi Gazette and Gulf News, there are nearly 100 women currently working for the Assistance Agency for Languages And Women’s Translation, 210 at the Assistant Agency for Women’s Services and Field Affairs, and 30 at the Assistant Agency for Women’s Administrative Affairs and the Assistant Agency for Strategic Planning, Initiatives and Realization of the Women’s Vision.
Under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Saudi Arabia introduced sweeping reforms that paved the way for more women to take part in both the private and public sectors. This is seen as a stepping stone towards achieving Vision 2030. In addition, the Kingdom had also made headway by deploying female security officers to the two holy mosques in April 2021. It was the first time in the nation's history that such a milestone has been achieved.
