Female owned licenced start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) businesses in the UAE are being invited to enter TTrajectory to win a significant and business changing prize worth over AED 700,000. A year of business support and marketing services to drive growth and revenue and help take the winner to a new level of success in 2022 is being offered by female owned and operated independent marketing and communications agency TishTash and its partners.
Highlights in the winner’s bundle include a PR package, a social media and content package and legal support, all lasting one year after activation on January 1, 2022. TTrajectory creator TishTash is working alongside friends and partners who are also committed to supporting the SME and local business community in the UAE. Those involved in the competition include BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem & Associates LLP law firm, Social Studio, Female Fusion Network, which is offering an annual membership and The Communication Works, also contributing with a media training package. Another dedicated partner is business expert and mentor Kelly Lundberg, who will be sharing her know-how via a business mentor programme.
The female led businesses should be licenced in the UAE and have less than 50 employees to be eligible to apply. By November 2021, five shortlisted companies will be selected to go in front of a panel of leading business figures, entrepreneurs and experts. And during the session, the finalists will have the opportunity to pitch to industry experts and answer questions, all hosted live.
“I believe in the power of the SME and as an active member of the business community of the UAE and as owner of a marketing agency with many clients, I hear the challenges that start-ups and small businesses face every day,” Natasha Hatherall, CEO and Founder of TishTash, said. “One of the biggest challenges remains cash flow and where to allocate precious funds, with marketing and communications being one of the most critical to business success, but yet often de-prioritised or not invested significantly enough due to budgets. My wish is that TTrajectory can help take one local business to the next level and create a real difference in their journey.”
The UAE’s small business and SME community is a major component of economic growth for the emirates as they are an important GDP contributor. They also play an important role in creating employment, supporting the economy and offering a source of creativity and innovation. Additionally, these establishments develop services and capabilities never available before in the market.
According to recent figures by the Department of Economic Development about 48 percent of SMEs are headed by women, and most of them are sole proprietors. However, although the number of female owned businesses is impressive, women still face many challenges including lack of access to funding, despite their businesses being equally or more profitable than their male counterparts.
