With the continuous rise of social media, mental health wellbeing has become crucial across the world and particularly amongst adolescent users, many who are on their phones, navigating the enriching yet intense world of social media. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is very much aware of this, which is why its Digital Wellbeing Council is partnering with Snapchat in providing users with the help they need.

“Here for You” is the new in-app mental health portal supplying Snapchatters the support they need for better mental health wellbeing, or to find crucial information to share with others. In fact, this new section will focus on three episodes by the UAE Digital Wellbeing Council, each covering either of the following: promoting the values of positive digital citizen; resources on online privacy; and bullying prevention.

“Through this partnership, we are bringing a resourceful tool that helps Snapchatters in pinpointing some mental health issues they might be facing and consequently addressing them to lead positive lives," Amal Al Blooshi, Director of UAE Digital Wellbeing at the Ministry of Community Development, said in a quote by Campaign Middle East.

On their part, Snapchat has expressed its excitement over this current partnership. "We’re honored to be partnering with the UAE Digital Wellbeing Council. Snapchatters appreciate our commitment to privacy and how it allows people to be themselves, without the pressure of being judged by others," Jake Thomas, Head of UAE Market at Snap Inc., said in a quote by Campaign Middle East.
Thomas stated that Snapchat has been a crucial platform for reaching out to the youth, stating that it has reached 60% of youth between the ages of 13 and 24, as well as one-third of users between the ages of 18 and 34 within the UAE.
