On the 12th of November, Aramco Saudi Ladies International, a professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour, will kick off at King Abdullah Economic City’s Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, a premier 18-hole course with panoramic views of the Red Sea coast. This world-class event will see some of the biggest names in women’s golf competing on Saudi soil, one of them being New Zealand’s two-time major-winner Lydia Ko. The world’s number 8 will join other stellar Australasians such as Minjee Lee and Steph Kyriacou, as long as other Major-winners like Georgia Hall, Anna Nordqvist, and Dame Laura Davies.

The four-day Aramco Saudi Ladies International, which will end on the 15th of November, is presented by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and will be the first of two $1 million USD LET tournaments taking place in the span of nine days. Indeed, following this tournament is The Aramco Team Series, the fourth and final leg of the Saudi-backed series that will see matches in London, Sotogrande, and New York.

Speaking on the landmark series, the 24-year-old Ko said, “It sounds like it’s going to be a really awesome week in Saudi Arabia […] This will be my first visit to the Kingdom but having watched some of last year’s debut Saudi events, the Aramco Team Series tournaments this year, and having heard only good things from the girls on Tour, the Saudi International is an event I am really excited to be part of.”

The golf champion also went on to explain that she is well aware of the impact the Saudi Ladies International has had on Saudi girls last year when it launched, an inaugural event that witnessed over 1,000 signing up to play. She explained that being “able to play in different countries around the world and inspire more young people and young girls especially into golf is something that I never take for granted.”
