On December 2nd 2021, the UAE will celebrate its 50th National Day and the country is preparing to celebrate in a number of magnificent ways, including a huge event that begins this month.
The arts and culture scene are in preparation to celebrate the country by inviting around 500 artists and 100 performers from over 170 countries to showcase their works at the inaugural edition of Dubai Art Expo, referencing that the UAE is indeed a multicultural place.
The opening of Dubai Art Expo will be a grand affair held at the Meydan Hotel and is set to host an art exhibition that will showcase the work of artists, performances by dancers, art panels, and choirs and musicians from across the 5 continents.
The arts event looks to build a bridge of understanding and spark engagement between various nations and participants come from Brazil, Mexico, India, Ukraine, Tonga, Samoa, and Fiji amongst others.
The concept for the event came to Aurela Cuku last November when she invited just a couple of artists to partake in the arts event, and as time went on the word spread and more and more creatives joined the list.
Dubai Art Expo will begin at the Meydan Hotel but the second and third days will take place in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, where an exhibition in partnership with the Association of Colours of Peace will be hosted. The Italian non-profit organization looks to reduce social, cultural, and economic differences between nations by showcasing more than 136 paintings by children worldwide.
Antonio Giannelli, president of Colors for Peace, Bernard Dika, Councilor at National Park for Peace Sant’Anna di Stazzema, and Alfredo De Joannon, the President of Peace Run, will team up with Angelo Baldini, President of the Italian UCI Continental team MG K VIS, and will cycle from the Meydan Hotel to Al Fahidi area in promotion of the Colors for Peace initiative. There will also be a workshop for the public from 5pm to 8pm, where drawings and messages created can be showcased around the world as part of the Association of Colours of Peace.
On the third day of the exhibition, , Sara Abram, the Secretary-General of the Foundation Centro Conservazione e Restauro “La Venaria Reale” and Dr Platon Alexiou, professor of architecture at Ajman University, amongst other noteworthy experts will speak at the Art Talks program. The Italian artist Mimmo Centonze will also convey the biography and artwork of the 16th-century Italian painter Caravaggio, in a bid to highlight historical art from the west.
