Music lovers, get ready to groove because the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), the awards show that celebrates the hottest artists from around the world, is returning from Hungary on November 14. The global celebration of music, which can be enjoyed from all over the globe, will undeniably be an unforgettable night thanks to some mega performances and appearances by some of the world’s biggest stars. Taking place live from the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna, the music fiesta with a unique, multi-platform experience is available for streaming within the region exclusively on Paramount+.
The first confirmed set of international superstars to perform at this year’s celebration of “Music for ALL” includes the host Saweetie. The rapper/actress/entrepreneur who is on her way to becoming a global superstar will be performing “Best Friend” and “Back To The Streets” from her upcoming debut album “Pretty Bitch Music.”
“Anything can happen at the MTV EMAs. The EMAs celebrate the universal language of music for the whole world to see and I can’t wait to get out there and perform because I’ve got some surprises of my own,” said the multi-hyphenate who took home her first-ever MTV VMA Award for Best Art Direction for “Best Friend” ft. Doja Cat, with Art Direction by Alec Contestabile.
The 2020 VMA winner for Best Latin, Maluma, will also be creating his magic on stage. The global superstar who just finished his successful “Papi Juancho USA 2021” tour is returning to the EMA stage for the second time. Additionally, Italian rock sensations Måneskin, who’ve been taking the world by storm and recently released their new single, ‘MAMMAMIA,” will make their EMA stage debut. Another star to make her debut is International pop sensation Kim Petras, who recently performed an electrifying rendition of her latest single “Future Starts Now” during the VMAs pre-show.
The Nominations
Frontrunner Justin Bieber has secured eight nominations, including Best Artist, Best Pop and two Best Song nods for his global hits “Peaches” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon and “STAY” with The Kid LAROI. He is also selected for Best Video for “Peaches,” Best Collaboration alongside The Kid LAROI and Biggest Fans.
Doja Cat and Lil Nas X follow Bieber with six nods each, both across Best Song, Best Video and Best Collaboration. British global superstar Ed Sheeran and EMA newcomers Olivia Rodrigo and The Kid LAROI follow closely with five nominations each, including Best Pop and Best Song for Sheeran and Rodrigo. Justin Bieber (Canada), Doja Cat (US), Lil Nas X (US), Ed Sheeran (UK & Ireland), Olivia Rodrigo (US) and The Kid LAROI (Australia) are also among those nominated for Best Local Act in their respective home regions.
Plus, some of the confirmed performers have nabbed 2021 MTV EMA nominations, including Saweetie for Best New, alongside Giveon, Olivia Rodrigo, Rauw Alejandro, Griff and The Kid LAROI. Maluma is nominated in the Best Latin and Best Lat Am-Central Act categories, while Måneskin has been suggested for Best Rock and Best Group.
