Congratulations are in order for celebrity couple. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas who welcomed their baby daughter into the world via surrogate.
The couple had been keeping schtum about their decision to start a family as it was often they had been asked in interviews when they would be having a baby, and their response was always one that disallowed media or the public to speculate - so it came as a huge surprise when the pair announced the birth of their baby on social media.
On Instagram, both Priyanka and Nick had shared posts stating, “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much,” it read.
Yet to share the baby’s name and exact date of birth or even any information on the surrogate mother, it had been alleged by TMZ that the baby was born in a hospital in Southern California, whilst other channels and publications sharing that she was born prematurely by around 12 weeks.
Choosing to have their baby via a surrogate reportedly came as a practical decision for Priyanka and Nick as their busy working schedules meant that they couldn’t find the right time to conceive their baby, so a surrogate wasn’t an easy decision but was the right choice for the pair when it came to their careers and lifestyles. The couple have not confirmed whether these speculations are true or not, so their decision to use a surrogate remains undisclosed.
With that being said, Nick and Priyanka are not the only celebrity couple to have opted to start their families via surrogates. It was no secret that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West conceived two of their children via surrogacy, Chicago and Psalm, and others include Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen Fallon, Tyra Banks and even Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.
