An advertisement for Saudi Arabia’s megacity, Neom, has been nominated for this year’s Art Directors Guild Awards, a Hollywood awards show that celebrates achievements in Production Design across films, television shows and music videos. Entitled “Made to Change,” the video showcases how the $500 billion smart city project is working on speeding up the human push for progress through technology, energy, sustainability, freedom of movement and more. The empowering advert, the brainchild of commercial production designer François Audouy, also highlights how human needs of every kind don’t have a time limit and will always be a vital element.
Situated in the Tabuk Province, which is in the northwestern part of the Kingdom, NEOM aims to achieve exceptional livability, thriving businesses and a new model for urban sustainability, in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Built on 170-kilometre strip along the Red Sea, its impressive technologically advanced systems, as well as its green processes, plugged in the advert, have earned worldwide recognition.
The 26th Art Directors Guild Awards is set to take place as a live in-person event on March 5 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Other than commercials, the esteemed annual awards ceremony honouring excellence in Production Design includes categories like animated feature films, television shows, musical videos and theatrical motion pictures. Other nominations for the commercials category include Gucci’s “Aria,’” Apple’s “Introducing iPhone 13 Pro” and Apple Music’s “Billie Eilish — Happier Than Ever.”
