After the resounding success of their “invite only” gala event in December 2021, Middle East Fashion Week is ready to host their inaugural fashion week from 26th – 30th March 2022 in the heart of Dubai.
An extravagant lineup of fashion events will span across five days at The Agenda in Dubai Media City. Aside from an impressive lineup of regional and international designers, attendees can take a front-row seat for “Atelier Couture” by the legendary and globally admired Professor Jimmy Choo OBE, who will kick off the program in-person.
“After this long period of distance with the pandemic, we can finally meet again at MEFW! I am happy and proud to be part of the MEFW inaugural edition in Dubai after the spectacular Gala Dinner held last December. The feeling of hope and beauty is stronger than ever, and I can’t wait for all of you to discover The Atelier Couture collection which we have created with the discerning clientele of the region in mind. It will be showcased for the first time during MEFW,” said the shoe designer, and previous creative head and founder of his eponymous luxury shoe label, Jimmy Choo.
“We are honoured to bring to Dubai The Atelier Couture by Professor Jimmy Choo. Our sincere thanks to Professor Choo and CEO Mr. Yew. We look forward to receiving them in Dubai and to a collection that most certainly will elate our audiences,” added Simon J Lo Gatto, Founder and CEO of the Middle East Fashion Council.
The Fashion Week will kick off with a gala dinner co-hosted by the Better World Fund, a philanthropic organization based in Paris, followed by three days of fashion, accessible to the public through registrations, B2B showrooms for buyers and VIP clientele, MESFF talks and a surprise invitation only experiential atelier. Guests will enjoy the fashion lounge with refreshments between the various events. A VIP luncheon will occur on the last day of the event for VIP guests, from designers to industry leaders.
Also, as part of the 5-day program, a Sustainable Fashion Forum is set to happen on March 27th, co-hosted by The Sustainable City, bringing together thought leaders and change makers in the industry. This first edition of the Middle East SFF will address fundamental issues driving partnerships for sustainable fashion.
“For us at the MEFC, ‘sustainability’ is not a trend, neither is ‘inclusivity’. These are values ingrained and reflect in the multiculturalism of our teams and our eco-system with our choice of partners. We understand at a deep level the challenges, but also the huge opportunities that the UAE is leading the region with. Where better to drive this than the region’s fashion capital and global retail hub that is Dubai!” stated Payal Kshatriya Cerri, Co-founder of MEFC, Chief Strategy Officer of MEFW and Founder of Dubai-born, Paris-based “Conscious Luxury” Business and Strategic Advisory, Sarayu Consulting.
As part of their mission, MEFC invites Middle East-based designers to apply to showcase their collections on the catwalk during the March program. Two applicants will be carefully chosen based on strict selection criteria and presented on the catwalk at no fee by the MEFC. Preference will go to brands that have integrated sustainable practices into their creative process and business model.
To apply, brands are invited to rush their brand kits along with details of sustainable initiatives to this email: [email protected]
