The Modist decided to close down in April 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, amongst other challenges the business faced. The luxury e-tailer had focused solely on a market over-looked by the high end fashion industry, by selecting key modest pieces from brands such as Taller Marmo, JW Anderson, Maryam Nasser Zadeh and many more. “It is with a heavy heart we share with you that The Modist is permanently closing its virtual doors today…,” they had announced on Instagram.
And so, you can image that we are over the moon that we have just heard that it most definitely will be reopening its virtual doors to us once again…
On April 14th 2022, Dubai based entrepreneur and The Modist’s founder, Ghizlan Guenez took to Instagram to share a post that read, “We’re coming back!” The Modist’s Instagram handle was also alongside two other images sharing the statement about the platform’s closure two years ago.
The same images were also posted on The Modist’s Instagram page.
With the site not yet up and running, we are indeed “watching this space,” as not too many details have been shared about the relaunching of the much loved luxury modest fashion destination. It was the first modest wear e-tailer that was dedicated to luxe modest wear and we cannot wait to see what they have in store this time around!
The fact that the platform after “permanently” closing its doors is making a return shares an empowering underlying message that a “bump in the road is just an opportunity to overcome a challenge,” and Ghizlan Guenez’s entrepreneurial return is the inspiration we needed to see today…
