The Arab Institute for Women's Empowerment (Nusf) is a Saudi-based institute focusing on empowering women in executive positions. By providing women with leadership skills, the institute is working towards cultivating sustainable economic development, hence helping Saudi Arabia realize its Vision 2030 goals. This is in addition to providing research, and hosting discussions in which people in leadership positions can share their experiences and best practices for women across sectors.
Nusf is the brainchild of Mae Al-Mozaini, its CEO and former executive at world renowned Saudi Aramco. She also brings with her experience working as gender lead at the 2020 G20 Summit. Having worked at Saudi Aramco, as a woman, she realized the demerits of working without mentorship, and Vision 2030 would inspire her to offer mentorship programs to women through Nusf.
In fact, Nusf is the Arabic word for "half" as the institute considers women as "half of society." When it was founded, women made up 17 percent of participants in Saudi Arabia's economic activities. By the second quarter of 2022, however, the number had since risen to 35.6 percent, with as many women as men with employment.
In its part, Nusf has been offering mentorship programs aimed at building skills and confidence in professional women. These include the "Future Leaders Program," which aims to provide tools and workshop training to potential leaders. The "Management Leadership Program" is a series of strategic training sessions, which aims to provide women in organizations the skills and confidence to transform their companies into global players. The "Global Executive Leadership Program" is an intensive, world-class program aimed at achieving accelerated professional development for women preparing for executive positions.
Furthermore, Nusf is providing other services such as research and consultations for organizations, governments, and institutions. It also holds discussions such as the Saudi Women's Economic Forum, an annual forum highlighting the opportunities for women in economic activities. In addition, Leadership Talks are a monthly discussion where prominent women and men come together to discuss their leadership careers, and exchange experiences and best practices regarding women in the economy.
