In its fourth edition, the International Video Art Forum, organized by the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in Dammam, will kick off on Tuesday 19th July 2022. There are 23 countries participating in the event, and 49 pieces of international art will be showcased at the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts, under the theme, “Contemplate Light ... Move Towards Imagination.”
This arts and culture forum will run for 5 days and is set to offer an insight and review of video arts and contemporary artistic as well as visual perception. The society’s director, Yousef Al Harbi, stated that 128 applications to participate in the event came from 34 different countries.
After reviewing the applications, the committee, which is made up of critics, artists and experts, picked 49 pieces of visual art from 23 countries to be exhibited at the forum. Over the course of the 5 day events, there will be lectures and seminars on video art, “the movement associated with it globally, and the most prominent achievements of this modern art in the region,” as reported by a local media outlet.
The “Institute of Culture and Arts for Training” or “Thaqqif ” is aimed at creating an environment that nurtures and encourages the progression of culture and arts in Saudi Arabia.
