The fashion desk has rounded up the major trends that appeared at NYFW, from popping, feel-good colours to cool denim and Flamenco styles that will have you saying “Olé” next year.
New York Fashion Week (NYFW), one of the biggest fashion stages in the world, has drawn to a close. There were definitely a lot of talking points at the fashion fest, which took place from 7-13 September. RiRi made a comeback with a heart-stopping dirt bike-themed show, where stuntmen roared through the air for her Fenty x Puma collection. American horror movie references were made at Raf Simons’s second collection for Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren chose his private garage, where he has about $400 million worth of matchless Ferraris, McLarens, Bugattis and more, as a show venue. What’s more, some big homegrown talents like Thom Browne, Rodarte and Altuzarra were absent, having decided to decamp to Paris; even Tommy Hilfiger’s show is taking place in London.
Model news included the rise of celebrity children, with Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s doppelgänger, and Lisa Rinna’s daughter taking to the catwalk for the first time. Then there was that sweetest moment from the Hadid sisters when Bella helped out Gigi after her shoe flew off during the Anna Sui show. And we were so thrilled to see all the inclusivity on the catwalks, as well as support for big is beautiful, with curvy model Ashley Graham unveiling her latest lingerie collection for Addition Elle.
Plus, of course, there were all those A-listers sitting in the front row, dissecting all the trends we’ll be wearing come spring/summer 2018. Feel like a real fashion insider and scroll down to see some of the biggest looks that emerged from NYFW.
