The Pink Walk is march that started in King Abdullah Economic City in Jeddah for breast cancer awareness month. Approximately 100 women have joined this walk that was organized by the Pink Lemon movement, managed by LIPS Management.
To initiate the march, the participants all got together to form a pink human ribbon while dressed in pink t-shirts. The event was also attended by Lebanese superstar Elissa who performed and talked about her experience in beating breast cancer. The event’s aim was also to raise awareness on the sports industry in Saudi Arabia, and push more women to engage in athletics.
Creative director of LIPS Management, Samantha Fadlallah, spoke to Arab news about how the event came into place by means of CSR project related to sports. “This month is breast cancer awareness month, and this is what Pink Lemon stands for; to increase awareness about breast cancer, to push everyone for early detection; and today the Pink Walk is to show solidarity to show that we are all supporting this movement,” Fadlallah reported to the news outlet, as she continued to stress the importance of helping out people that are not only fighting breast cancer, both other types of illnesses as well.
Another public figure that was also present was Natalie Mamo, a former professional basketball player and was the first Lebanese woman to represent Lebanon as an athlete.
She expressed her excitement and happiness to be in the event om INstagra, where she wrote, “Very happy to have been part of this event @pinklemon.sa in collaboration with @livgolfinv and @golf_saudi happening for the first time in Saudi Arabia to raise awareness about Breast Cancer and the importance of early screening in addition to pushing more women into playing Golf in KSA.”
The athelete also applauded Saudi Arabia on its continuous efforts in empowering women in all fields and specifically sports in this case,“I think the Kingdom is doing an amazing job in the past few years in promoting sports in every possible level, creating the first (women’s) leagues for football, basketball and for all kinds of sports.”
The event was created in collaboration with LIV Golf, Golf Saudi, and Zahra Association, and was managed by Pink Lemon.
