Following the success of its pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai, Saudi Arabia has announced that it will be participating in Japan’s Expo 2025 that will take place in Osaka.
The announcement came after Saudi Arabia signed a participation agreement at the first International Planning Meeting for the event.
Expo 2025 has a goal to building bridges between people of various cultures and interests under the global slogan, “Designing Future Society For Our Lives.”
The Kingdom hopes to repeat the success and impact it had at Expo 2020 in Dubai, where the Saudi pavilion showcased the country’s rich heritage, culture, creativity, and artistic and societal innovations. The pavilion had attracted nearly 5 million visitors at Expo 2020 Dubai and even won an award for being the “best participating pavilion.”
Saudi Arabia’s willingness to participate at Expo 2025 in Japan and involvement conveys its commitment to global cooperation in an effort to achieve the UN’s sustainable development goals.
Expo 2025 aims to explore opportunities that will help to achieve sustainable development goals within the framework of three sub-themes: Ensuring life sustainability, improving life, and enhancing life through communication.
The kingdom of Saudi Arabia had first begun its relationship with the Expos in 1958 in Brussels, and last month, submitted its bid to host Expo 2030, under the title, “The Era of Change: Leading the Planet to a Foresighted Tomorrow.” Saudi Arabia is up against bids from Italy, South Korea, and Ukraine to be the host country of the event, and the winner will be announced in November 2023.
