Saudi Arabia is gearing up to host its 6th edition of the Gulf Theater Festival for People with Disabilities in Riyadh. The festival is being organized in collaboration with the kingdom’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, and is being operated simultaneously with the UN’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities is also coordinating the festival, and is a Saudi government entity which aims to empower people with disabilities and ensure that their rights are protected and that they are continually allowing for services to be available for them.
The festival will run over the course of a week and will begin with an opening ceremony and the first theatrical performance on 3rd December 2022 at the theater of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. A number of GCC countries will be taking part in the event and each one will have the entire day to perform in the theatre as they will showcase the talents of people with disabilities.
The upcoming festival will also encourage people of determination to take part in cultural activities, while the government entities will “review a number of technical, cultural and social programs” related to disabilities and those affected.
