An exciting fashion show featuring over 150 designers will take place between the semifinal and final football matches of the Fifa World Cup there.
As announced by Qatar Creates and CR Runway, the groundbreaking fashion show will take place on 16th December 2022, and will make history as the runway will host the works of over 150 designers, from 6 continents, and 50 countries at the Ras Abu Aboud 974 Stadium, where over 25,000 people are expected to be attending.
Of the 150 designers, there are 21 from Qatar, and a number of others from across the MENA region as well as emerging designers who will debut their collections at the showcase prior to the Fifa world Cup 2022 final. The concept of the forthcoming fashion show was established by Her Excellency Sheikha Mayassa Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums, and is to be curated by the French editor and stylist Carine Roitfeld, and directed by CR Runway CEO Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld.
The event is in place to raise donations in support of the charity, Education Above All, and all proceeds from the ticket sales will also benefit the non-profit organization – and for added entertainment, a lineup of world famous musicians and performers including DJ Snake, Kadim Al Sahir, Khaled, Nancy Ajram, Ozuna, Zakes Bantwini, and many more will be taking to the stage.
Chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Education Above All offers educational opportunities to children and youth, who would not have access to such opportunities, and works to empower women too.
HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani said in a released statement, “It is a singular historic event for Qatar to host this FIFA World Cup, the first to be held in any Arab nation, and only the most spectacular celebration of fashion and culture can match this great occasion.” She continued, “Just as the World Cup brings together people from across the entire globe for the excitement of high athletic achievement, so will Qatar Fashion United by CR Runway be electrifying audiences here in Doha and everywhere with the splendor of this unprecedented creative gathering.”

Supported by Qatar Creates, which is a year-long program that highlights the country’s cultural sector, the fashion show is a first-of-its-kind event that hopes to bring the worlds of fashion, culture, music, and sports together. The fashion extravaganza will be showcased in four meticulously choreographed runway presentations, beginning with an opening performance joined by the national ambassadors of the World Cup’s 32 countries, who will all be wearing customized football jerseys. The first part will feature the collaboration between two Qatari brands, Aliya Al Obaidly and Harlienz and a performance titled ‘Where the Sand Touches the Sea’. The showcase is inspired by Qatar’s traditional practices of pearl diving. The second runway presentation, titled “The Fashion World Tour” will feature designers from across the six continents, while the fashion finale, “One Night In Qatar” will showcase haute couture and eveningwear designed exclusively by international designers for Qatar Fashion United by CR Runway.
