Mahmoud Sabbagh, best known for his 2016 film, “Barakah Meets Barakah,” revealed that he is currently working on his third production, entitled, “Last Party in Rumah Desert,” to The Hollywood Reporter, at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah.
Sabbagh’s film “Barakah Meets Barakah” was the second Saudi title, ever, to be submitted for an Academy Award consideration. His upcoming movie, “Last Party in Rumah Desert,” which comes six years after Sabbagh’s feature “Amra and the Second Marriage,” is imagined in a modern Saudi Arabia.
The narrative is about a “cash-driven local impresario” who mooches through nightspots and Saudi’s entertainment circuit with his music troupe in their struggle to stay financially stable amid professional obstacles.
Sabbagh’s film is being produced by Jeddah-based indie label El-Housh Productions established by Sabbagh himself and stars actors Abdullah Albarrak, Sami Hanafi, Radwan Jifri and singer Marwa Salem. It is currently being shot between Jeddah and Riyadh.
