Have you ever partied in a historic town? A place where the same ancient buildings of which the electronic music was bouncing on, could tell a million stories from the past. A site where the beat of your feet stomped on the same ground that was crossed by travelers from another time.
This isn’t an average block party. Al Balad, the historic old town of Jeddah was lit up for two consecutive nights of music where people flocked to enjoy the festivities at such a unique locale.
Hip hop, rap, indie, house, and many more genres of music circulated on five stages in the district, taking over the traditional alleyways and courtyards.
The line-up was as impressive as the venue, where names like Carlota, Recondite, Tale of Us, Lil Eazy, Central Cee, Rick Ross, Phil Weeks, Dana Hourani, Lupe Fiasco, and many more international and regional names graced the stages.
The event reported to have had more than 25,000 people in attendance as the top 70 DJs ripped through the dancefloors.
Event management spoke to Arab News to express their delight at the access of the event, “We just wrapped up what we call ‘the loudest week in Riyadh’ less than a week ago and here we already are, bringing tens of thousands of people together to enjoy incredible music in the most breathtaking surroundings with Balad Beast.”
CEO of Mdlbeast, Ramadan Alharatani, also stated that, “The atmosphere has been amazing and everyone from the crowds to the performing artists have embraced the uniqueness of Al-Balad’s incredible history. We’re happy to host our first boutique festival in a place that’s close to our hearts — Al-Balad, Jeddah.”
The event coverage by itself was enough to show how amazing the event was party goers assembled through historic streets of Jeddah with their festival outfits and the unsatiable love for music.
The cool thing about this event was also the fact that many local Saudi artists got the chance to perform and play their music to festival people.
Mishaal Tamer, who is a Saudi pop star was very excited to perform at the event, as he said to Arab News, “I am glad to be a part of such a historic event that happened in Al-Balad. I just can’t believe how beautiful the place looks with the digital art — it’s meaningful to me being artistic. Saudi Arabia … is turning into a country of music festivals which in turn is encouraging artists like us to grow and flourish.”
