Emily in Saudi: The Ultimate Guide

With the Netflix hit series, Emily in Paris sensation taking over the world, content creators are recreating her outfits on social media, reviewing the restaurants she goes to, and scouting the exact spots in Paris that were featured on the show.

Well let’s try to imagine: what if Emily comes to Saudi Arabia? What if she goes to Al Ula, and takes a selfie in front of Maraya? What if she heads to Jeddah Corniche and takes a bike ride with the caves crashing next to her?

Must Visit Landmarks

First, Emily must explore the heritage and history of Saudi Arabia. She’ll definitely visit Rijal Almaa for an Instagrammable blast from the past, and take all the photos from the cable cars. She will also visit Al-Ahsa Oasis, the biggest oasis in the world and take home with her some of the delicious Saudi dates.

Not to forget Al-Turaif District in ad-Dir'iyah, where the first Saudi capital was settled. And for some ancient art she will visit Hegra Archaeological Site, Hima Cultural Area, and the Rock Art in the Hail Region.

Historic Jeddah will definitely be on her list with a trip to old town and the much sought-after bike ride on the corniche.

Al Ula Is Where It’s At

Of course, can someone even talk about the history of Saudi Arabia without mentioning Al Ula? With its beautiful Maraya piece, the stunning restaurants reminiscent of a glorious past, and the beautiful must visit resorts of Banyan and Habitas, Emily will be spending her whole weekend in the mesmerizing Al Ula.

She will definitely also be opting for the star gazing one night, and not to mention the hot air balloons. Maybe she will recreate her scene with Alfie in the hot air balloons Saudi style!

Insta-worthy Cafes and Restaurants

As for restaurant Emily will definitely go to Myazu for an unparalleled Japanese experience, Najd Village for an authentic Saudi cuisine and for other options you’ll often see her strolling Riyadh Boulevard for some of the best restaurants all around the city.

A Weekend Vacay in Umluj

When the weather gets a bit hot, Emily will be heading over to Umluj for a weekend of fun in the sun. Be sure that her Instagram is going to be full of the island’s crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and all the snorkeling and water activities she will be doing there – or pretending to do at while she basks on the sun loungers.

Retail Therapy

Would it be an Emily in Saudi without some retail therapy? For her fix of eccentric items, you won’t see Emily at a common mall, but on the other hand she will be heading to niche concept stores. We definitely see Emily purchasing one or two items from Pattern, Personage, and Gallery Blue.

Relaxing Time

It’s spa and resort time! When her marketing job gets a bit more stressful than she’d like, Emily will call up her many contacts in Saudi Arabia and head to one of the resorts for a relaxing spa weekend. 

For a luxurious stay, Emily will be heading to Park Hyatt in the sunny city of Jeddah. As for a proper spa healing moment, she will be going to Al Faisaliah Spa by ESPA and opting for one of their innovative spa treatments.

When In Workout Mood

For working out, Emily will be going to either Tribus or Core, depending on the mood she’s in. If she’s down to get rowdy with an intense private boxing session with expert trainers, she’ll head to Core Riyadh. As for glam, Emily will definitely be hitting Dry or Rrush for a quick blow out or a manicure. As for those long glam sessions for when she has a big event, she will definitely be trying the women’s only center, Al Manahil.
