At the 2023 MusiCares Persons of the Year celebration in Los Angeles over the weekend, American actress, social media sensation, and dancer Tessa Brooks flaunted a chic ensemble by Saudi fashion designer Eman Alajlan. At an occasion honoring retired American record executive Berry Gordy and famous Motown vocalist Smokey Robinson at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the 23-year-old flaunted an all-black creation designed by Alajlan.
Brooks opted for an artfully sculpted outfit that had a form-fitting bodice and skirt capped with a wrap-around neckline embellished with crystals.
Through a series of Instagram Stories, the social media star showcased her go-to look for her 19 million Instagram followers. The two artists, who are responsible for a generation of soul-pop classics, accepted a double-bill MusiCares Person of the Year award on Friday night. The annual gala took place prior to the Grammy Awards, which were held on Sunday night, and is hosted by MusiCares, a non-profit division of the Recording Academy.
Brooks, showcasing a Saudi designer, attended the event walking the red carpet that attracted the biggest names in the entertainment business. Performers at the event included Brandi Carlile, Jimmie Allen, PJ Morton, Trombone Shorty, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Mumford & Sons, Isley Brothers, Michael McDonald, The Temptations, Rita Wilson and The Four Tops, Molly Tuttle, and more. Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie, two legendary musicians, also performed live.
The actress and model has also recently blogged about her travels to Saudi Arabia, where she first visited in December to attend the Red Sea International Film Festival before returning in January to see the ancient city of AlUla. She captioned on Instagram a carousel of pictures taken of her soaking in the Saudi sun while wearing a towel-draped robe, "Sunrise in AlUla."
Alajlan founded her line in 2007 and has a boutique in Riyadh. She specializes in couture, bridal, and pret-a-porter gowns. At the 2019 Venice Film Festival, Saudi actresses Mila Alzahrani and Dae Al-Hilali walked the red carpet in her creations, one of many regional superstars she has dressed for international occasions.
