In an upcoming event on March 5th during Paris Fashion Week, American luxury retailer the Neiman Marcus Group will honor Jordanian Romanian footwear and accessory designer Amina Muaddi. The Neiman Marcus Award for Innovation in the Field of Fashion will be presented to the celeb-favorite designer. Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of LOEWE, will also receive an award from the group for Creative Impact in the Field of Fashion.
Lana Todorovich, the chief marketing officer, was quoted in the press announcement: “Amina has not only mastered a distinctive aesthetic and cosmopolitan sensibility crafted for the modern-day woman, she is also an accomplished business leader that has proven strength in balancing impressive sales with the importance of innovation, authenticity and brand longevity.”
After a seven-year absence, Brunello Cucinelli received the prestigious Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion last year. With the intention of expanding their upscale client base in the US, the group will make investments in brand marketing and merchandising to promote the two brands together with Brunello Cucinelli. All through 2023, Neiman Marcus will work with Muaddi and Anderson to create in-store experiences.
According to Muaddi, “(Neiman Marcus’s) commitment to begin our partnership very early in the brand’s life helped us expand in the US and connect with their significant clientele.”
Famous luxury brands Chanel, Christian Dior, Miuccia Prada, Ralph Lauren, and Carolina Herrera have all received past awards; Carolina Herrera was the final recipient before the pause in 2016.
In August 2018, about a year after leaving her position as co-founder and creative director of the upscale footwear brand Oscar Tiye, Muaddi introduced her own footwear collection under her own name. A long range of well-known celebrities, including Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, and Hailey Bieber Baldwin, have become devoted followers of Amina Muaddi’s distinctive pumps, sling-backs, mules, boots, and sandals in a variety of vivid hues and holographic designs.
She contributed to the creation of the shoes for Rihanna's Fenty line and the 34th FN Achievement Awards' Collaboration of the Year award was granted in recognition of the successful collaboration. She went on to unveiled her collection of jewelry and handbags in 2020. She was then listed as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in October 2021 by Women's Wear Daily (WWD) and Footwear News. Most recently she received the FN Achievement Awards' Designer of the Year award in New York in November 2022.
