Afef Jnifen, a Tunisian-Italian model, and Mohammed Al-Turki, the CEO of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, were spotted in the front row of the Giorgio Armani presentation for Fall/Winter 2023, which concluded Milan Fashion Week on Sunday.
After the event, Al-Turki was spotted shaking hands with the 88-year-old designer moments before Armani appeared to compliment him on his stylish all-white attire.
The seasoned Italian designer Armani unveiled the latest collection for his eponymous label featuring a lot of delicate, flowing styles. He opened the show with beige and bronze creations and later utilized a lot of black, specifically combining it with pink for the following designs. Black evening outfits and dresses gained sparkle from sequins or beaded belts. Two-tone brogues, fringed shawls, and berets with beaded fringe were among the accessories used.
We also kept an eye out for two Arab female designers, Zineb Hazim and Lara Chamandi.
Hazim, a Moroccan-born designer, showcased her creations for the second time during MFW. She made her digital debut with We Are Made in Italy, a digital fashion show that features BIPOC fashion designers, which she is teaming up with once more this year. After earning her degree from the Burgo Fashion Institute in Italy, Hazim launched her own line more than a year ago drawing inspiration from her native Morocco. After finding there was no attire that combined her requirements as a working Muslim woman, she started her own line. Her collection is an updated take of understated aesthetics combined with commerce.
In contrast, the opulent womenswear line bearing Chamandi's name will make its debut this season in Milan. Chamandi’s collection is inspired by her favorite place in her homeland, the Monastery of the Moon in Lebanon’s Chouf Mountains. There are several allusions to the moon and other elements like fire and crystals as well as constellations, most notably Scorpio. The line uses eco-friendly plant-based "leather" and is environmentally conscious.
In addition to a forthcoming jewelry line, Chamandi will offer a limited edition 20-piece capsule collection for spring on its e-commerce website on March 2 – the day of the new moon.
While this was going on, White Milano, the top womenswear trade show held in conjunction with Milan Fashion Week, collaborated with the Fashion Minority Alliance to highlight two Black designers while fostering a dialogue on diversity.
Both American designer Romeo Hunte and Nigerian-Scottish designer Olubuyi Thomas draw inspiration from their surroundings, and both are passionate about clothing that can be modified to fulfill many functions, according to The Associated Press.
