During Paris Fashion Week on Saturday, Moroccan-Italian runway sensation Malika El-Maslouhi and Saudi model Amira Al-Zuhair walked for Lebanese label Elie Saab.
Al-Zuhair, who has had a busy fashion week season thus far, walked the runway for the celebrity-favorite fashion house in two looks: an all-black gown with floral detailing and a transparent ice blue dress with sparkling embellishments along its length.
El-Maslouhi wore a black shift short dress with a bow over the one-shoulder neckline that was embellished with gems.
American singers Ciara and Avril Lavigne had to navigate throngs and treacherous stone steps to get to the Palais de Tokyo, the location of Elie Saab's show, prior to the event. During the show, the Lebanese designer displayed a tribute to Renaissance bouquets, with flowers sprouting from every crack, crevice, seam, and hem.
The Associated Press reported, “Tailored looks featured blossoming hydrangea embroidery above flared 1970s-style pants, as well as brooding dark prints in ruby and flashes of dazzling citrine.
“The collection reached a crescendo during the evening with Saab’s bread-and-butter va-va-voom silhouettes. Sheer mermaid gowns and dresses with sinuous three-dimensional florets glimmered with paillettes and tulle.
“The best looks were figurative, such as an Asiatic pleated cummerbund that fanned out dramatically like opening petals.”
Al-Zuhair's season has been jam-packed with commitments, including walking the catwalk for Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week in February. The model appeared in a monochromatic look. She was dressed in an immaculately tailored blazer dress with a black rosette on the lapel. Black tights, a black tie, and pointed heels with a delicate ankle strap completed the stylish, manly ensemble.
Moving on to Paris, before walking the Elie Saab catwalk, the aspiring model attended the LVMH Prize cocktail reception. A major financial endowment and mentoring from the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy company are given to budding fashion designers each year as part of the LVMH Prize, which was sponsored by the star-studded event.
Al-Zuhair selected a black outfit with waist cut-out design for the occasion. The upcoming model added some color to her outfit with a red handbag for contrast, and completely her look with black fingerless gloves, and matching heels.
