Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) is teaming up with renowned fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to launch an exclusive design award aimed at promoting local heritage and empowering young Emirati designers.
And guess what? The ADMAF x Dolce & Gabbana award is open to current and recently graduated university students. It will cover several design categories including clothing, jewelry, fragrance, and even home decor. Finalists will have the chance to intern at Dolce & Gabbana's headquarters in Italy before showcasing their designs at the next Abu Dhabi festival in 2024.
Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, founder of ADMAF and the Abu Dhabi festival, said the award will offer the UAE's youth a unique opportunity to learn about couture craftsmanship and design, enhance their skills, and present their talent on a global platform.
The Abu Dhabi festival, under the patronage of HH Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, seeks to uplift the UAE's creative economy by showcasing some of the greatest works of music and art in the region and beyond. As one of the first cultural foundations in the Gulf, ADMAF supports creatives across the region and promotes Abu Dhabi as a cultural beacon.
Alkhamis-Kanoo said the collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana is a significant milestone for both organizations, as they strive to drive innovation, empower the youth and inspire generations to come.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been passionate advocates for young creatives in the fashion industry since the early days of their careers. The duo has supported emerging talents such as Sohee Park, Matty Bovan, and Tomo Koizumi in recent years, carving out spaces in their boutiques for young designers and helping them to create collections.
