Saudi fashion designer Razan Alazzouni has joined forces with The Walt Disney Company to launch an exclusive collection inspired by the beloved Disney princess Snow White. This groundbreaking collaboration marks the first time Disney has partnered with an Arab designer, and the collection includes a range of looks for boys and girls aged 2-8, as well as for women. The line, which was meticulously handcrafted in the Middle East, draws inspiration from nature, wildlife, and the iconic character of Snow White herself.
For Alazzouni, who is renowned for her silks, flowing fabrics, and intricate embroidery, this children's line represents a new creative venture. She had previously unveiled her first-ever children's collection in March 2020 in collaboration with Moonchild, a Kuwait-based kids apparel label. The new Disney campaign images feature models holding a red apple as a visual homage to the timeless 19th-century fairy tale that was immortalized by Disney in the 1937 film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."
The launch of this special edition collection coincides with Disney's 100th anniversary and will be available for purchase on the Razan Alazzouni website, as well as through selected stores. Alazzouni expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating, "It is such an honor to collaborate with Disney on this collection. Working with this iconic character is a dream. Disney to me has always been a beacon of creativity and imagination. To be able to create clothing that will give RA the opportunity to be part of people's occasions and share in these memories is a privilege."
Alazzouni, who was born in Alkhobar, established her brand in 2008 and is known for her use of premium materials such as silk and chiffon, as well as exquisite embellishments including beading, floral details, and delicate sequin work, with a keen focus on the sculptural form of the garments. She studied Art and Sculpture at Tufts University in Boston before setting up her design studio with her sisters Salwa and Raya in Alkhobar and later in Riyadh. As a testament to her commitment to local production, all manufacturing and operations for her label take place in Saudi Arabia, while materials are sourced from Europe and Japan.
Over the years, Alazzouni's designs have graced the wardrobes of notable figures such as US actresses Elizabeth Banks and Emma Roberts, socialite Paris Hilton, and model Kendall Jenner. In addition to her Disney collaboration, Alazzouni also recently unveiled her Ramadan 2023 collection, featuring delicate kaftans adorned with playful details like scalloped sleeves and pearl embellishments.
