As you grow older and the years pass, every birthday you might think what have I accomplished this year? Especially in our societies where a certain pressure has been placed in the past, and specifically on women, to accomplish the trifecta by the maximum age of the mid-twenties: the husband, the house, and the kids.
Although the world has come a far way since that backward thinking, but there are still some burdens women hold, when they turn around and see everyone their age is at a certain point in life, and they might have not reached there yet. You’re not too old and it’s not too late. This is how Tracy Harmoush started one of her videos. If you don't know who Tracy Harmoush is, she is a Lebanese influencer that is based in Dubai.
One of the main reasons why we love following Tracy is how real and authentic she is, online. She often shares snippets of her life from her marriage to her new adventures in hopes of inspiring her community with life lessons. One of her recent videos which really got to us started with you're not too old and it's not too late.
She continues on to explain her life story talking about how her life progressed and it has nothing to do with how young or old she was.
“I left my 10-year career at 31, held my first handstand at 32, I learned mindfulness at 33, landed my first back flip at 34, launched the fitness app at 35, learned the balanced diet at 35, got married at 36, learned a new sport at 36, started my first talk show at 36. I'm at my strongest at 36 and I'm only getting started.”
The video now has accumulated 115,000 likes, 1599 comments, and almost 2 million views. Tracy’s video garnered so much attention that it was flooded with comments from people sharing their own experiences. One comment said “I graduated from medical school at 42!” Another said, “Of course that's too young what old are you talking about?” Another excited comment stated, “My life literally got started after I was 30.” Other people also engaged with humor saying things like, “I'm 56 and I spend a fortune in creams, but I look amazing!”.
The authenticity of Tracy also lies in how she details the journeys in different parts of her life, one of them being her wanting to have kids one day. She actually now has a highlight on her Instagram that is titled “Egg Freezing”. where she takes us through her everyday process of how she froze her eggs, the different processes and centers that are available right now in UAE. She also talks a bit about her own journey and how she feels about that decision that she has made.
Being able to share all of these things is very important in our society, because it created a sense of community that gives encouragement to women. Where it pushes women to believe that they are the pilot of their own lives. Whether it's love, career, kids; you are the one who decides where the journey should start and how far along it should.
We understand how difficult it is when you see the people in your life have accomplished things that you have yet to accomplish. However, always remember the “yet”. Remember that everyone moves at a different pace and that's what makes life interesting. Can you imagine if everyone achieved the same things at the same time? How would we celebrate then?
You're not too old and it's never too late. If there's one thing Tracy has taught us is that life will always give you what you're meant to have, and it's almost never centered around your age.
