The Saudi Fashion Commission, in collaboration with the French Embassy and Alliance Francaise in the Kingdom, launched "France & Fashion Days”, one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year. This event, which has happened on May 27 and 28, aimed to unite fashion enthusiasts through a series of conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and training sessions.
This innovative new initiative “France & Fashion Days” was designed to bring fashion enthusiasts together through various engaging activities. With a focus on strengthening the ties between Saudi Arabia and France, this event showcased the work of industry experts, fostered dialogue on pertinent fashion-related topics, and provided a platform for both Saudi and French designers to exhibit their creations.
To inaugurate the event, Ludovic Pouille, the French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Saudi Fashion Commission, presided over the opening ceremony. Esteemed professionals from the fashion showcased their work, as well, and shared insights on the impact of the fashion ecosystem in today's global landscape. During the discussions, the speakers also addressed crucial topics such as sustainable development, craftsmanship, and effective brand communication.
The event also featured a curated exhibition displaying the creations of Saudi and French designers, providing an opportunity for them to present their talent. On the second day, the focus shifted more towards the exchange of expertise and skill, as participants participated in workshops centered around the practical aspects of establishing and nurturing a brand.
"France & Fashion Days" forms part of Europe Month 2023, a festival running from May 9 to June 9 in Jeddah and Riyadh. Organized by the embassies and cultural institutes of European Union member states, this festival serves as a platform to celebrate European culture and heritage. By incorporating this fashion-centric event into Europe Month, the organizers aim to highlight the significant role of fashion as a cultural bridge between Saudi Arabia and France, and also showcase young talent in a space where the fashion and style scene is bourgeoning.
