The Best Eyeshadow Options for Autumn/Winter 2017

From pretty pastels and metallics, to vivid or sultry hues, there are many eyeshadow alternatives to complement whichever mood you’re in this season.

Elie Saab

To help your search for the perfect eyeshadow, we take a look at some of the key looks make-up artists gravitated towards at the autumn/winter 2017-2018 fashion shows.

A lot of sultry eyeshadow shades like taupes, greys and cobalt, which was spotted at Versus Versace, were seen on the runway. However, so were flashes of bright and vibrant colours you thought were just for summer, like the fruity pink spotted at Trussardi, Vivienne Westwood’s neon pink and electric blue, as well as Prada’s periwinkle blue.

Alberta Ferretti

Even white took centre stage at several shows. What’s more, Richard Malone, Maison Margiela, House of Holland and Vanessa Seward (who combined red, yellow and black) were some of the brands asserting the rainbow eye is one of the biggest trends to rock this season. So is colour blocking, and Tom Pecheux’s look for Oscar de la Renta is the perfect inspiration.

Alexis Mabille

If you love a more feminine take, soft shades of pink are all the rage and make for a great option. They looked so pretty and ethereal at Altuzarra and Simone Rocha.  Mary Katrantzou and Mark Fast showed us how alluring pretty pastels can be, while peach is another light and womanlike hue that is popular this season.

Trussardi

A touch of cool toned cream shimmer, think lilac or silver, as seen at Giorgio Armani, Derek Lam or Chanel’s space themed show, makes for a great evening look. For a warmer variety, Alexis Mabille went for gold, while Christian Siriano decided on copper. For smokey eye fanatics, this is the perfect season to get creative once the sun goes down.

Maison Margiela

You can try adding pops of colour like red, thank you for the idea Alberta Ferretti, or even go for a vivid eyeliner.  Then again, how about combining your smokey eye with sparkly multi-colour glitter, a look we saw at Elie Saab, or with dramatic copper and platinum, like at Balmain? Plus, we could start a whole discussion about the pastel smokey eye at Antonio Marras.

Oscar de la Renta

Whether you’re looking for a palette that can take you from day to night, or searching for a metallic, matte or silky finish, here are some of the top eyeshadow buys to get you trying some of the hottest eye make-up trends this season.
