Red Sea Global Advances In Renewable Energy Efforts And Excels In Gender Diversity

Red Sea Global (RSG) has made a significant stride in its sustainability efforts with the announcement of the installation of 750,000 solar panels. This development will have a transformative impact on the company's pursuit of environmental responsibility. In addition to this, RSG has constructed five solar stations in preparation for the first phase of its opening. Sixteen hotels, shops, and entertainment centers that are entirely powered by renewable energy sources will be operational during this first phase.

RSG is taking its commitment to sustainability a step further by implementing the world's largest battery storage facility, capable of storing 1,200 megawatts per hour. This immense storage capacity will grant the company 100 percent independence from the grid. As part of its ambitious plans, RSG intends to operate 50 resorts by 2030, encompassing 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 residential buildings spread across 22 islands and six inland areas.

Aligned with Saudi Arabia's aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2060, RSG, in partnership with the immense NEOM project, has made sustainability a fundamental pillar of its development. CEO of RSG, John Pagano, emphasized that the commitment to powering the world's largest tourism destination solely with renewable energy aligns with this vision. Pagano further noted that the installation of electroluminescent panels at the five solar stations marks a milestone in the first phase of the Red Sea Project, making it the largest and most pioneering endeavor of its kind globally.

To ensure a fully sustainable transportation system, all vehicles ferrying visitors to the Red Sea Tourism Project will be powered entirely by solar energy. Starting from their arrival at the Red Sea International Airport and continuing throughout their travels within the project sites and between nearby islands, visitors will experience eco-friendly transportation.

RSG also invests in its workforce, providing 500 people with scholarships for vocational training through the Human Resources Development Fund. Out of these, 50 individuals have received training in renewable energy. The organization hopes to train 10,000 Saudi residents in total by the year 2030, while simultaneously striving to have half of its workforce comprised of Saudi nationals.

During the Arabian Travel Market 2023, Tracy Lanza, the global head of brand development at RSG, disclosed that the company is making significant progress towards its goal of achieving a 50-50 workforce gender ratio, with the marketing team already at 67 percent. Furthermore, RSG boasts the highest percentage of Saudi women among its employees, demonstrating its commitment to gender diversity and inclusivity.
