Some of the UAE’s leading voices on menopause and peri-menopause are coming together this month to launch the country’s first-ever dedicated social event to one of the most challenging times in a woman’s life.
Breaking down the barriers to the transitional phase which forces one in ten women to leave the workplace, ladies can give the heave-ho to hot flushes, sidestep the mood swings and access some of the city’s greatest minds in a safe, social space.

Dubai’s Meno Doctor Dr Fiona Rennie and Dr Valentina Faia, Medical Director and Psychiatrist at The Free Spirit Collective, will be among the team of experts helping to share insights and support for the local community through the tricky transition.
“This can be a very traumatic time in a woman’s life which requires a strong support network, and nobody should suffer alone,” explained Dr Rennie. “It’s something we must all go through, yet there is still a huge amount of mystery and uncertainty around the phase, which by coming together, we can help change. Hopefully we can bust some myths together and empower women to take control of their bodies.”

Dr Faia agrees, “The menopause and perimenopause still remain a relatively stigmatic topic for many women. They feel they are losing their ‘womanhood’ and ‘ageing’, two deeply distressing things for a woman to go through not only on a physical level, but psychologically too. Having access to support is truly life changing and by bringing people together, I really hope we can help change some women’s lives and experiences.”
Taking place on October 25th from 6-9pm at ‘August’ in Address Fountain View Hotel, the unique social event will address critical questions which arise during this emotionally and physically demanding time in a woman’s middle life, in a fun environment.

“We’d really like to try and reframe the feelings around menopause and turn it into something fun, social and communal,” explained Ann Marie McQueen, the event’s media partner and founder of specialist platform Hot Flash Inc. “By creating this event, we hope that we can bring some joy to the lives of those who need it as this can be a very dark phase in women’s journeys and say goodbye to the unnecessary stigma and shame which can come alongside the process.”
Participants will be able to enjoy a complimentary first drink, with tasty bites, pampering and treats during the evening, while interacting with the team of experts and making new friends.
