Preparations are underway for the third installment of Rally Jameel in Saudi Arabia, an all-female off-road navigation rally that is gaining international attention with 108 competitors from 38 countries ready to embark on a challenging new route. Unlike traditional races, Rally Jameel focuses on endurance and navigation skills rather than speed, as teams of two women utilize cutting-edge navigation equipment and digital roadbooks to traverse a predetermined path in Saudi Arabia's picturesque deserts. The objective is to collect points by reaching hidden waypoints along the way, with the team amassing the most points emerging as the winner of the rally.
Scheduled to kick off on March 4th from Hail and culminating on International Women's Day, March 8th, at King Abdullah Economic City, this year's edition of Rally Jameel, themed "She Shifts the World," spans five stages covering 1,600 kilometers of Saudi Arabia's rugged off-road terrain. The route encompasses Hail, AlUla, Umluj, Yanbu, and KAEC in Rabigh, showcasing the diverse landscapes of the region.
Endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Women in Motorsport and the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, Rally Jameel is a testament to the growing interest in women's participation in motorsport globally. Munir Khoja, the managing director of marketing communications at Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, expressed optimism about the increasing international participation, emphasizing the rally's alignment with Saudi Arabia's vision for empowering women.
With a commitment to promoting motorsport and empowering women, Rally Jameel continues to evolve, introducing increasingly difficult routes while maintaining its fundamental principles. The event remains open to participants aged over 18 from any nationality with a valid driving license accepted in Saudi Arabia. While all vehicles must be 4x4 or all-wheel drive, they are required to be completely unmodified, eliminating the need for specialized equipment.
Acknowledging the support of partners, organizers, and sponsors, Rally Jameel exemplifies the collaborative effort to make this empowering event a reality. As participants gear up to navigate the demanding terrain of Saudi Arabia's deserts, Rally Jameel stands as a beacon of empowerment and inclusivity in the world of motorsport.
