When it comes to romance, one Royal Jordanian pilot shows us that the sky is indeed the limit. Passengers aboard a recent flight between Amman and Dubai witnessed a love written in the stars, as First Officer Richard Abu Manneh proposed to his partner who was on the same flight.
According to Stepfeed, the airline’s assistant captain said to the cabin that “Today’s flight is a very special one for me since the girl I love is here with us,” before getting down on his knee and asking for her hand in marriage. She answered with a resounding yes, hugs, and kisses, followed by flowers and congrats from the passengers and crew.
Royal Jordanian shared photos of the proposal, of the stunning ring, and of the couple on its Twitter and Facebook pages, wishing them a lifetime of happiness and saying, “Love was in the air onboard RJ flight to Dubai this morning! Captain Richard Abu Manneh proposed to a very special passenger to his heart.” The post was shared hundreds of times, garnering thousands of likes as well.
This isn’t the first proposal to take place mid-flight. Just this summer, Jack Sepilian from Beirut proposed to his partner on a Middle East Airlines flight bound for Armenia. Sepilian asked for the attention of the passengers, recounting to them the story of how, two years ago, his father had died in Armenia and while on his way back he had met his partner Sarin Aynedjian. And ever since that chance meeting, his life has changed for the better. He then got down on one knee, asking Aynedjian to marry him.
Late last year, an Australian pilot also proposed to his girlfriend by popping the question over the plane’s intercom, and the year before that pilot Eric Greener proposed to his flight attendant girlfriend, Brandy Hollenbeck. Greener surprised Hollenbeck by addressing the cabin over the intercom on a flight from Seattle to Alaska.
