Like every year, the British Fashion Council's (BFC) annual Fashion Awards, formerly known as the British Fashion Awards, honoured some incredible talent. The winners at the event, which took place Monday in London’s Royal Albert Hall, were cherry-picked from hundreds of nominees from around the world, “and they represent the most creative talent and innovative businesses of the year,” as BFC chairman Natalie Massenet described.

As well as being a spectacular gala that acknowledged the industry's best and brightest achievers, the event, in partnership with Swarovski, supported the BFC's pledge to raise £10million in 10 years to school gifted youngsters.

Needless to say, the red carpet at the rebranded event, which saw Karlie Kloss and Jack Whitehall hosting, dominated a lot of attention. Which better occasion is there to take fashion risks? As we were jotting down ideas on how to switch sartorial gears, we noticed one prominent fashion theme, long-sleeve evening gowns.

It was hard to miss them during the autumn/winter fashion shows, with designers like Zuhair Murad, Chanel, Valentino and Elie Saab presenting their unique creations. And now celebrities and fashion influencers attending the awards just reconfirmed covering up those arms is hip again.
We saw countless takes of the elegant and classy trend. Whether sheer, sparkly, velvet, draped or just standout, attention on sleeves can be incredibly eye-catching or romantic. And A-listers like Jourdan Dunn, Izabel Goulart and Leomie Anderson proved it faultlessly during the annual celebration of fashion. Isn’t it great to know your flair for fashion doesn’t have to be compromised so you can stay warm during the cooler, crisper months?
