Lindsay Lohan has announced on US talk show, “The Wendy Williams Show,” her latest role in “Frame,” a Saudi film about an American photographer who leaves her husband in the United States to move to Riyadh.
Speaking about her character, Lohan explained that “Frame” is the story of a woman on feeling her way through a culture that is new to her, who gets exposed to Saudi Women for the first time, their interests, “fencing, that’s a big thing for the women there, so there’s a lot of fencing courses and horseback riding, and they take her in to (help her) understand why they cover (up).”
The movie is seen as part of the 30-year-old actress’s attempt at rebranding herself, part of which has involved her moving from the US and relocating to Dubai. Speaking late last year to Entertainment Tonight, Lohan explained her new choice of residence, saying, “I love living in New York, but I do love the serenity and peace that I find living in the Middle East because there are no cameras in Dubai and I can actually focus on what I want to do in life.”
Soon after Saudi Arabia announced rescinding an almost four-decade old ban on commercial cinemas, many celebrities including Lohan took to social media to hail the landmark decision. In a post shared with her over nine million Twitter followers, the actress tweeted: “Please support this incredible #movement... I look forward to being a part of this with the movie #Framethemovie.” At the time, it was unclear if the hashtag was in reference to an upcoming film.
Lohan also revealed to Wendy Williams that she plans to design her own island – Lohan Island – in Dubai, as soon as she is done filming the second season of “Sick Note,” a British TV series in which she stars as Katerina West. “I’m discussing designing my own island in Dubai at the World Islands,” explained the actress.
The multitalented actress has also started an online campaign to star as the next Batgirl, and has revealed that she is currently working on creating her own cosmetics line.
