Saudi’s General Security division has announced that opportunities within the field will be made available to Arab women in several of the country’s governorates including Mecca, al-Qusaim, al-Madina and Riyadh.
However, there are 12 conditions women must meet in order to be qualified for such a position.
In order to be eligible for a soldier rank role, a woman must be of Saudi origin and needs to have been raised in the country – unless they were living abroad due to their father’s job in a “government related responsibility.”
A Saudi female must also be between the ages of 25 to 35 and hold a high school education at the very minimum.
Upon passing initial interview stages, all women must go through a thorough medical checkup.
Within the 12 conditions women must also have a clear criminal record and proof that they haven't previously been employed in any government or military-related institution.
2018 so far has also seen the announcement of Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Passports that it will start employing women for jobs at airports and land border-crossing points across the kingdom.
107,000 women applied for the 140 open vacancies.
Furthermore, the Director General of Traffic, Mohammed Al Bassami, proclaimed that roles within the traffic police forces will soon be open to women, in conjunction with Saudi’s Air Navigation Services Company’s (SANS) plans to open vacancies to women for air traffic control positions for the first time in the country's history.
Saudi’s Vision 2030 project aims to open thousands of professional opportunities to women across the kingdom and has been launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a huge attempt to diversify the economy.
In support of this vision, the KSA created 80,000 retail jobs within women’s stores, for Saudi women in October 2017.
During the same month, Saudi officials announced that the Gulf state's Air Navigation Services Company (SANS) was planning to employ women as air traffic controllers for the first time in the country's history.
