Our Favorite Parisian Street Looks from Haute Couture Fashion Week

The dawn falls on yet another fashion week and we’re left in awe of all the genius that has been showcased for Fall-Winter 2019/2020 couture. Our mood boards are brimming with ideas, colors, and materials for our next events. However, the stimulus doesn’t only stem from the runways, as the streets witnessed opulence and originality as well.

Acne Studio rangers, including the super chic Cici Wang and others, hit the streets showcasing the brand’s combat-like, monotone identity that has been a crowd favorite for quite some time now. Camila Coelho stunned with a number of outfits that were left printed in our minds, from a plaid Dior set to a sheer and ruffled Elie Saab number. Speaking of the latter, ruffles were raging on the cobbled French streets, as Larsen Thompson stood out in an enchanting mini Dundas dress adorning her shoulders with the colorful tousles. Giambattista Valli, the king of ruffles, festooned Lana El Sahely in a dreamy white flowy dress, which she twirled her way around the boulevards in.

Patricia Manfield disclosed her über-cool style with a Dior outfit consisting of a foulard shirt, and quilted baggy pants. She also donned a Mugler structured blazer dress, that has been seen on a few people this season. Caroline Daur gave her street style a comfort twist, dressing in polka dots and sneakers one day, and a two-tone oversized jacket-frock the other day. Valentino was featured several times on the avenues as well, starting with a red mini dress on Helena Bordon, an all-black ensemble on FKA Twigs, and ending with a shimmery pink suit worn by Amandla Stenberg, showing how the brand identity can be remarkably versatile.

Karen Wazen Bakhazi wowed per the usual, but our favorite look on her had to be the Dior sheer dress paired with her brand’s eyeglasses, By Karen Wazen, and her sister’s brand’s shoes, Andrea Wazen. Might we see a joint Wazen fashion house in the future? Anything is possible. But what we know for now is that this week’s street style is going down in our fashion notebooks as a constant inspo-source from now until the it-girls hit the streets again.

Before you start clicking through the stunning outfits, here are a couple of style tips in case that exact Dior outfit might be a bit off the rails of your budget:

  • Oversized blazers are still in. Pair them with biker or capri shorts, long tulle skirts, or matching suit pants.

  • Sheer, tulle, and ruffles had a strong presence. But we recommend you play it cool with these types of materials, any overdosed element and it won’t look as chic.

  • Neon colors also dominated. Pairing a top and bottom both in neon would look great, even if they are a few shades off. It gives your outfit that extra umph, in the case you decide to tone it down in the shoes and accessories departments.

  • Leather is yes, yes, yes! Leather dresses (even with turtlenecks) and leather sets, anything goes, just make sure that the colors are monochrome. If you decide to scream it out using a colored leather item, make sure the rest of outfit doesn’t scream along with it.

  • Structured facets were also huge, in terms of structured shoulder pads, pants, and bags.

  • High-waist belts; have we seen a street extravaganza without it? Our favorite look with the item has to be the blazer and long tulle skirt combo that has been on-going since the past fashion season, and the one before.
