The Best Beauty Trends from Paris Haute Couture Week

Rodarte
There’s so much to admire here, starting with the Rodarte models’ tousled hair decked with fresh custom-made flower crowns by LA florist Joseph Free featuring tiny baby’s breath flowers. Nail artist Tracy Lee glued real flowers onto models' fingers to complement the gorgeous wreaths, while James Kaliardos was the master behind the waiflike make-up.

Alexandre Vauthier
Hairstylist Sam McKnight added his renowned touch of magic at the Alexandre Vauthier show. He even surprisingly managed to make us totally excited about low, sleek buns. The twists were complemented by some radical disco-inspired eyeshadow. Make-up artist Lisa Butler teamed the colourful smoky eyes with bronzy cheekbones.

Elie Saab
Hairstylist to the stars Orlando Pita was behind the natural, wavy and ultra feminine hair, starring lovely randomly scattered braids, at Elie Saab. And as ardent “Game of Thrones” fans, we’re itching to know where we can get those exquisite warrior queen headbands. For a harmonious goddess glow, make-up maestro Tom Pecheux opted for soft shimmery golden eyeshadow and blush, as well as a touch of strong eyeliner.

Chanel
The ponytail spirals we spotted at Chanel’s show are definitely on our beauty checklist come autumn. By adding hairnets (whoever said they’re not classy?) and clip-in extensions for added dimension and thickness, Sam McKnight presented an ultra chic (and pretty easy to copy) version of the ponytail. Another notable beauty aspect was the kaleidoscope of colours on models’ eyelids by make-up artist Tom Pecheux.

Fendi
We absolutely adore heavy lashes, so we were elated to see models sporting lashings of bold mascara at the Fendi show. The eyes were also highlighted with eyeliner, which always adds an extra edge. Then there are those contoured cheeks that raised the beauty bar even more. Every fashionista knows never to run out of new ponytail ideas and this crimped version worn with pom pom hair ties simply won our hearts.

Giambattista Valli 
Make-up artist Val Garland’s take on “subversive romance,” the beauty look Giambattista Valli was gunning for, included beautiful, dewy skin and minimal eye make-up. This left the focus on the lips, which popped in candy apple red. Adding a last touch of clear lip gloss gave the beauty look a sexy, quite naughty vibe. Meanwhile, hairstylist James Pecis worked on giving models a youthful and fresh-looking style.

Ulyana Sergeenko
Nobody does glamour quite like make-up genius Charlotte Tilbury. And for the Ulyana Sergeenko show, she was inspired by old Hollywood and 1940s Russian espionage and took to spinning things with a modern, youthful twist. As well as healthy, plumped up and glossy skin, Tilbury introduced dreamy glowing highlights on the inner corners of the eyes, down the centre of the nose and across the tops of the cheekbones. To top it all off, she dabbed some crimson across the cheekbones and gave models different coloured lipstick for a “statement, just-bitten look.”
