Syrian-born couturier, Rami Al Ali, won over the couture world with his inspired creations. For his Autumn/Winter 2021/2022 collection, he encapsulates his fascination with the timeless glamour of the 50s and 60s.
The collection consists of 25 varied silhouettes that modernize a particular notion of tradition through classic silhouettes that are intricately fused with modern cuts for a more relevant and youthful take – each design echoing the same contemporary femininity synonymous with Al Ali’s signature. The lineup details an eclectic mix of cocktail attire, utilitarian jumpsuits and pajamas inspired separates.
Rami Al Ali’s AW 2021/2022 sees palazzo pants and modest gowns in vibrant hues, sharply cut to encompass polished refinement. For dresses, hemlines contrast from above the knee to floor length with varying degrees of embellishment. Leg-baring mini dresses are given structured architectural lines and cinched waistbands while evening gowns playfully don tiered ruffles. The collection maintains an airy, fresh and at times nonchalant approach to cocktail dressing – and there really is something for everyone – from the minimalist to the maximalist.
Soft peach, blush and blue tones are used to add a captivating essence of glamour and femininity, juxtaposed against vibrant shades of fern green and orange peel that add an unexpected edge to the collection’s aesthetic – especially since Rami Al Ali’s last collection was a homage to the modern bride with every piece in white. This time, feminine silhouettes are adorned with embroidery, feathers and beadwork using graphic details of Moravian folk art.
