In a scene that seems to be inspired by Shakespeare’s story about fairies, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” viewers were transported to a make-believe environment in the Musée Rodin gardens during Christian Dior’s show.
For her debut as Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri had models walk through a lush garden with moss, dense hedges and paths with scattered leaves.
The clothes also had a mythical feel, as we saw lavish embroidery and appliqué, tulle gowns with delicate straps and tailored pure, simple outlines. Variations of Dior's famous bar jacket appeared as well, along with animal-shaped accessories, velvet and deep necklines. The fresh-faced models wore low kitten heels, boots and hoods and headdresses that referred back to the secret garden theme.
