Saudi women have been inspiring this generation of young girls to pursue their passion for athletics. So today, we highlight the achievements of some of the OG women that have scored firsts in their careers, and continue to inspire others.

Raha Moharrak

Raha Moharrak climbed Mount Everest in May 2013, and became the first Saudi Arabia women to do so. Mount Everest wasn’t her only accomplishment as she has climbed Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, and more. The athlete has received recognition for her achievements, namely being listed on Time’s 100 most influential people list.

Aseel Al Hamad

In 2018, Al Hamad’s name would be forever remembered as the first Saudi woman to drive a Formula One Car in a parade ahead of the French Grand Prix at the Circuit Paul Ricard. She is now a board member at Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation and the Saudi Representative at the FIA Women in Motorsports.

Yara Alhogbani

Yara Alhogbani, at the young age of 17, has achieved an outstanding accomplishment by becoming the first Saudi woman to win a professional tennis tournament. When Yara has conversations with online outlets, she stresses the fact that her goal is to raise awareness about tennis within the kingdom and the pursuit of tennis as a career.

Rasha Al Khamis

Rasha Al Khamis is the first Saudi woman to be certified as a boxing coach and, after that she began sharing her expertise at King Saud University. Her sports career doesn’t stop at boxing as she is a semi-professional footballer as well. Now she working in consulting to develop large-scale sports projects in the country.

Kariman Abuljadayel

Abuljadayel is the first Saudi woman to compete in the 100m sprint at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She was also named as one of Forbes Middle East's 30 Under 30 in the sports category, and later on was appointed as the first female Saudi sports ambassador by the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee.

Mariam Fardous

Fardous is the first Arab woman, and 3rd woman globally, to to dive in the North Pole. She has several certifications, concentrating in open water, advanced, and rescue level dives, peak performance buoyancy and night dives. Another plus point: Fardous is heavily invested in refugees work.
