Van Cleef & Arpels pays tribute to flora at the Doha Jewelry & Watches Exhibition 2024

Inspired by the Maison’s heritage, Van Cleef & Arpels highlights its most emblematic floral collections highlighted by diamonds, this year at the esteemed Doha Jewelry & Watches Exhibition from February 4^th to the 11^th at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).

The Maison invites you to contemplate wonders of nature with a selection of precious floral creations that showcase the virtuosity of the Van Cleef & Arpels diamond craftsmanship. From Rose de Noël creations to Lady Arpels Heures Florales watches, visitors will witness some of the world’s most enchanting High Jewelry, jewelry and timepieces inspired by the beauty and harmony of blossoms.

Rose de Noël pendant with clip Rose gold, carnelian and diamonds

Since its creation, Van Cleef & Arpels has drawn an eternal source of inspiration from nature, expressing all the grace and vitality of flora in jewelry. In 1970, the Maison launched the Rose de Noël collection, named for that unique winter-blooming flower. Originally in pink coral, yellow gold and diamonds, these pieces reflect the creative effervescence of the time, highlighting a multitude of materials and colors. Since then, the collection has lent itself to joyful variations, mingling the sparkle of diamonds with the reflections of white or gray mother-of-pearl, coral and chalcedony, as well as chrysoprase.

To set these colored flowers, Van Cleef & Arpels’ expert gemologists select materials according to the most demanding criteria. White mother-of-pearl is chosen for its harmonious iridescent reflections, its smooth surface and its high-quality luster. As for lapis lazuli, it must exhibit an intense and uniform shade of blue. Because of the stones’ rarity, it takes several years to obtain perfectly matched ensembles. The diamonds adorning the creations meet the Maison’s standards of excellence: D to F for color and IF to VVS for clarity.

Fleurette Necklace Rose gold, diamonds Fleurette Rose Gold Collection

Drawing its origin from the creative history of Van Cleef & Arpels, the Fleurette collection motif shines with seven round diamonds that form a delicate corolla. Illuminating the neckline, the meeting of rose gold and diamonds creates a radiant harmony that unfolds on a flower pendant. A necklace with five motifs lends its full brilliance to the silhouette.

Fleurette Ring Rose gold, diamonds Fleurette Rose Gold Collection

The new Fleurette ring, crafted in rose gold, showcases the redesigned setting that was introduced in 2022 for the white gold creations. The widened body of the ring – also known as “cravat” in reference to the shape of its ends – is set with diamonds of decreasing size, giving the illusion of a weightless corolla elegantly accompanying every gesture.

Crafted from white gold paved with diamonds, the Frivole 5-flower bracelet harmonizes perfectly with the 9-flower necklace. It’s different-sized motifs embellish the wrist with sparkling diamonds. Among the brilliant Frivole creations, the Between the Finger Ring presents a delicate tête-à-tête, in the form of a dialogue between three flowers in mirror-polished white gold and a diamond-paved flower. Reflecting the Maison’s emblematic style, the asymmetry of the piece creates a dynamic feel that echoes the vivacity of nature in spring.

The tradition of white jewelry at Van Cleef & Arpels and its art of showcasing diamonds lead the Maison to choose the highest quality stones, both for its jewelry creations and High Jewelry pieces. The Van Cleef & Arpels expert gemologists select grade D to F diamonds for their color and IF to VVS2 for clarity.

The Fleurette and Frivole motifs are part of this historical commitment to the beauty of gems, each diamond undergoing stringent quality control before being matched with others to create a harmonious whole.

Lady Arpels Heures Florales Cerisier watch

To pay tribute to nature, a source of endless fascination since 1906, the Maison drew inspiration from the floral clock (Horologium Florae) concept developed by Carl von Linné in his 1751 book Philosophia Botanica. In this work, the Swedish botanist describes a hypothetical garden made up of a wide variety of flowering plants that tell the time by opening and closing at specific hours of the day. Van Cleef & Arpels embraced this principle as the basis for two brand-new creations: the Lady Arpels Heures Florales and Lady Arpels Heures Florales Cerisier watches.

Their three-dimensional dials tick by the hours in a spirit of poetry thanks to the opening and closing of 12 corollas. Telling time becomes a spectacle as the flowers blossom and close at random, recreating the scenery of the dial every 60 minutes.
