Emma Watson, a British actor, activist, and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, has recently been named as the new face of Prada's upcoming women's fragrance: Paradoxe. Prada Beauty's international general manager Yann Andrea, stated: “Emma Watson possesses an empowered elegance and a mindful, engaged spirit, determined for positive evolution, the perfect embodiment of Prada's new feminine fragrance.” She also added: “Her sprawling body of work, from acting to activism, is beyond inspirational, each a signifier of her authenticity and ability to inspire emotion and speak to a young, engaged generation who demand authenticity.”
Regarding her new position, Emma commented "Prada has always gone beyond traditional models and archetypes of conceived beauty and is famous for a femininity that challenges conventions.” She went on to say, “It's a pleasure to create a campaign and represent a fragrance with such a profound philosophical concept and sustainability initiatives in a way that feels genuinely real and relevant."
Watson was photographed by Harley Weir for the collaboration, which is the actor's first time working with Prada. Watson also appears in the brand's brief clip. She looked stunning in the arresting photographs taken for the upcoming fragrance, returning to her iconic pixie cut with minimal skin makeup and graphic black eyeliner. In the first image release, Emma exudes confidence while wearing an orange double satin dress from the Spring 2022 collection styled with silver Prada Symbole pendant earrings. Another photo shows her draped in a dark brown leather jacket, allowing her freshly cut hair and elaborate makeup to steal the show.
On the Prada Beauty Instagram page, Prada posted additional information on the collaboration, stating that "Emma Watson is Prada Beauty. Our muse is more than just a muse. More than just a face. More than the perfect embodiment of the Prada woman. She's the epitome of female modernity, a celebration of female multi-dimensionality across the world." Prada added "Sophisticated, fiercely feminine, intensely intellectual. She's everything and its opposite. Always running towards the next version of herself."
Formerly, Watson was a pre-teen screen queen during her Harry Potter days, championing sustainable fashion on the red carpet as part of her environmental activism. She was chosen back then to be the face of Burberry.
By way of an extended explanation ahead of the new campaign’s launch, the UN Goodwill Ambassador said of her directorial debut for Prada in an Instagram post: “I can’t wait to share this piece of my art, and hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.” Details of the fragrance are soon to be revealed.
