Kim Kardashian
In celebration of Kim Kardashian West turning 37, we have a look at why the dark haired (currently blonde) beauty is one of today’s reigning beauty queens. The pop culture icon may be described as the modern girl who does it all, but it seems she is particularly ruling the roost as a beauty influencer. Her ultra- profitable KKW brand, secrets to great make-up and her beauty endorsements all prove she is on an onward and upward beauty industry roll.
Without a doubt, Kardashian West is inspiring make-up mavens everywhere day after day through her social media pages (she has 103 million followers on Instagram alone). Some of the reasons fans turn to her include getting that contour and highlighter on point and perfecting the smokey eye and nude lip she has become associated with.
However, Kanye West’s other half, who became an unexpected star and media darling after appearing on E! Entertainment’s reality TV show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” is also a very savvy businesswoman. Her ventures in beauty products include Kardashian Beauty, which involves sisters Khloe and Kourtney. Known for its hairstyling products and tools, in 2015 the brand’s 3-in-1 curling wand even won an “Allure” Best of Beauty Award. She has also collaborated with little half-sister Kylie, who is a beauty mogul in her own right, with lip kit collaboration, the KKW x Kylie Lip Kits. Amazingly, the 300,000 products were reportedly sold out in minutes, generating $13.5 million in sales.
With this extraordinary success inspiring her, Kardashian West launched her own beauty line, KKW Beauty, on June 21, 2017 and guess what? Her first launch saw the Crème Contour and Highlight Kits selling out rapidly too. Less than three hours after they went on sale, Kardashian West announced all 300,00 kits had sold out, raking in an estimated $14.4 million. She had shared details about the contour kits on Instagram. "I'm launching four kits... light, medium, dark and deep dark, to complement all skin tones. Each kit comes with a dual-ended contour stick, a dual-ended highlight stick that has a matte and shimmer highlight, and the perfect brush and sponge blending tool! I love how many shades we have, and how versatile these kits are!" the celebrity wrote. Kardashian West’s second product, the Powder Contour and Highlight Kit, which comes with two highlighter shades, two contour shades and dual-ended brush, was another sell out success. It is available in three shades (light, medium and dark). Additionally, she has also has sent out a teaser about a scent in the works, projected to be out by the end of the year, making it the reality TV star’s eighth fragrance. Plus, she has told Bazzar.com and “Allure” a concealer kit is on her agenda.
Apart from her expanding empire, the doting mother has been paid to endorse products for a while, starting even before it became a real thing. She has helped several renowned names in the industry during product launches, including lending a helping hand to veteran make-up artist Pat McGrath, who has the Pat McGrath Labs make-up line. She has also been the face of FusionBeauty Colorceuticals Collection.
What’s more, she has helped hairstylists and make-up artists build successful careers and has inspired other beauty brands. When her longtime make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic teamed up with Anastasia Beverly Hills to create an eyeshadow palette, they came up with a shimmery bronze hue named Kim. Plus, there’s a light pink nude lipstick called Kim K.W. that’s part of Charlotte Tilbury's “Hot Lips” collection. And we’re pretty sure we’re going to see a lot more beauty products associated with the Armenian powerhouse.
