Louma Rabah
By launching LUMALU, Louma Rabah was able to combine everything she is passionate about. The lipstick brand, made of the best, refined and natural ingredients like shea butter and vitamins E and A, allows her to express her love of nature and give back. Plus, the Lebanese contemporary artist, who includes calligraphy and patchwork in her paintings, puts her creative talent to work with the beautiful, handmade and biodegradable watercolour pattern packaging. She also gets to convey her love for vivid colours and beauty with the array of attractive bold hues.
We chat to Rabah about her inspirational and romantic world and the benefits of wearing her all-natural and imaginative lipsticks.
What made you decide to launch LUMALU?
LUMALU is a fruit of my passion for art and beauty. It is a startup lipstick brand that allows me to do what I love, create a more personal, natural lipstick. It is about being one with nature and giving back to it. LUMALU is a brand that represents quality in lip-care, comfort and colours. This has been accomplished by using high quality manufacturing ingredients along with artistic biodegradable packaging.
Why do you believe lipstick should be a vital make-up product in every woman’s daily life?
Lipstick draws attention to the lips and makes them stand out. Plus, it makes women more attractive and youthful as it adds colour to the face, making women feel good about themselves.
You’re known for your love of using bold colours. Can you give us some tips on how to wear these bright hues?
Bright hues make mouths look strong, rich and thoughtfully refined, but you must choose a bright shade based on your lips' natural colour, not your skin tone. Women with pale lips look best in cherry red or coral and those with naturally reddish lips should try hot pink, orange or cranberry. For women with dark lips, brick red and burgundy are ideal.
Which colours are you focusing on for SS18?
The best LUMALU colour for this year is “Chocolu.” It's a metallic brown colour and gives fancy, edgy, rocker chic lips. It’s really easy to wear and suits all skin tones.
Tell us about all those refined natural ingredients you use and their benefits.
LUMALU is made of 100 percent natural ingredients like aloe vera and shea butter. The lipsticks are rich in vitamins E and A and moisturise the lips, heal chapped lips and remove fine lines.
You also work on the original handmade packaging. What do you enjoy most about the process?
The natural lipsticks are packed in handmade biodegradable paper designs. They are wrapped with water colour artworks painted by me. As a painter, I really enjoy designing the packages in patterns that reflect LUMALU's romantic universe.
How can women in the Middle East get hold of your unique lipsticks?
You can find LUMALU in different concept stores or order online through the Instagram page, lumalu.usa or on Facebook (LUMALU).
